Costco October Sales Rise 12.6% to $24.5 Billion

Costco said October net sales rose 12.6% to $24.50 billion and its warehouse count reached 943, four more than it reported a month earlier.

The bulk-buy giant keeps adding bulk. Costco reported on November 4 that October net sales hit $24.50 billion, up 12.6% from $21.75 billion a year earlier [1]. Its U.S. and Puerto Rico warehouse count rose to 651, from 647 in the company's September sales report [1][2].

By our math, that is four new U.S. warehouses in roughly four weeks, and every one of them landed at home.

    The October scorecard

    • Total company comparable sales grew 11.1%, with the U.S. at 12.6% and Canada at 4.9% [1].
    • Sales initiated on a phone or computer jumped 22.5% from a year ago, Costco said [1].
    • Over the first nine weeks of the fiscal year, net sales totaled $54.52 billion, a 12.8% increase [1].
    • In November 2024, Costco ran 615 U.S. and Puerto Rico locations, per Yahoo Finance, so by our math it has added 36 in two years [4].

But gas is doing a lot of the lifting. Once Costco removes gasoline price changes and foreign exchange, total comparable sales growth drops to 7.3% [1]. That is still ahead of the 6.8% adjusted pace from October 2025, as reported by Zacks, yet the gap shows how much pump prices inflate the headline [3].

    What it means for you

A Costco warehouse is a traffic machine. By our math, $24.50 billion spread across 943 warehouses is about $26 million per location in four weeks, though that figure includes online orders. Shopping centers and pad sites near a new Costco often court tenants on that foot traffic, so the chain's opening pace is worth tracking if you own or are eyeing nearby retail.

    Zoom out

Retail landlords have spent years dealing with store closings. A warehouse club that is still adding locations every month, while digital sales grow above 20%, shows that big physical stores and online ordering can grow together [1].
